I just finished a sweet trip. Had a great crew which is very rare when all 5 of us match perfectly and enjoy a 4 day trip. Leslee brought some goodies on our trip, she's owns a Papa Murphy's here in Loveland and she brought a pizza and we baked it on the aircraft and even baked cookies for dessert. Thank God for aluminum foil !!
But we also joked that she was Flight Attendant of the Year, and boy what a round of applause did she get on the aircraft. (haha, this isn't really her award she won! It was Crew Appreciate Week at work! She won a free night in a hotel). But the photo at the bottom, shows a flight attendant's snack cart. A just flew with a "Super Stew" and she's set the standard with her cornucopia of snacks on her food cart!! HAHA!! (If anyone can name the flight attendant responsible for the above and beyond display of $3 snacks you let me know, and I'll give you a gold star!) Flight Attendant Leslee- Flight Attendant of the Year!! LOL!!
Yesterday I decided to just go sit with my God, my Jesus and just be. Lake Loveland at this time of day is one of "my places". I captured this photo a pinch late, cuz it was much brighter beforehand. As I sat there I was just hearing Him say, "Amy Christine, this is the way..." When I heard that, the sun's reflection caught my mind as the golden carpet rolled out towards me, straight at me and if I walk straight on that path, I'll find Him (the Son!) Pretty picture yes? "Hope of Glory" I also wanted to see His Glory continue. Since my sleep has been rather restless lately, waking up at 0530 this morning wasn't a huge challenge. I drove up Horsetooth road and parked at a spot where it over looks the city of Fort Collins and Loveland. I watched the sunrise. The photos just don't capture it, as it got brighter every second. Just amazing, the lesson of the morning, patiently waiting for something that you KNOW WILL happen.
This was taken at Lake Loveland. I had just finished walking around it and just sat taking in His beauty!! Love it up here!! Recently did a trip with two great friends: Karie my old roomie in Aurora and Cathleen my friend I met from Calvary Chapel Aurora few years back. It was a trip to remember, these girls kept me sane with a crazy of a Captain we had! $3 peanut M & Ms girls!! (Cathleen is left, me, Karie is on the right). (LOL- we like to take photos while we wait in the hotel lobby waiting for the airport shuttle!) This past weekend, I was also lucky to get an overnight in Indianapolis. My Uncle Fred and Jack live there. So they both picked me up and fixed me a nice home cooked meal!! Yum!! Great to see you both!!! Thanks again for dinner! This photo is super blurry!! But I was behind this VW bus and the window read: "Cry out to God for satisfaction!" Gotta love that He speaks to me even while I'm driving!
No biceps of steel but it did cause a massive disruption, and good lengthy incident report on my behalf. But this wasn't my fault, I promise! (Confirmed by F9 maintenance). But this photograph is of a recent incident on one of my trips last week. As you can see, we weren't going anywhere! I was getting ready to shut the main cabin door and wave goodbye to Albuquerque, when 3 inches from closing the door, the emergency slide/box falls off the door. (Of nothing I did- but I did take this photo to cover my tush if questioned!)
But this caused a lovely 5 hour delay, mmm good old 5 hour airplane appreciation, seriously sitting on the airplane for 5 hours with nothing to do. I'm amazed by two things, #1 this heavy thing didn't break my foot when it hit the floor, #2 the slide didn't blow/inflate (a flight attendant's horror nightmare=instant drug test) and hurt someone -the gate agent or myself. Just like an airbag in a car, you don't wanna get too close when it inflates!
Truly amazing how you can be flying days it feels like and simply exhausted but with a great crew you muster the energy to sell one more snack!!! LOL!!Thanks Leslee (left) me, Chris (right)...It was a great crew = great trip!! Thank you!!! Leslee wish you were with Chris and I tomorrow (Wed) to do the trip all over again!! Mall of America here we come for round two!!! No getting lost this time!! HAHA!! JK. And we like taking photos, can you tell?? We were thrilled that we had to document, when a crew is matching!!! It's so rare to be wearing the same uniform pieces!! Priceless I say, priceless!! (Amy Christine's looking sleepy!!!) :)
As for the latest "news" lately!! Frontier is now in the auction process, the bidders Republic Airways and Southwest Airlines. All of us flight attendants are hoping for someone to Save the Endangered Species!!! But all of this is out of my hands. I am choosing to enjoy the time I have flying (however long that may be), cuz I still have a job to do- providing the finest service in hopes they'll remember Frontier and perhaps more importantly, they'll see that "LIGHT" inside of me .
When I know more about what's going on w/ Frontier and our jobs etc (when it's in paper vs hear-say or rumors) I will pass on the buzz..... In God's Hands now!!!
So, over the past 10 months or so I've been making these little scripture cards (a swell recommendation of a friend). Trying to renew my mind with the Word, I want to be consumed by His word! I carry these little cards with me. Amazing how different a day can be if I forget to put them in my pocket or forget to take them on a trip w/ me. Doing everything I can to get His Word in my heart and mind at all times!! So I ponder on such things!! I've noticed when I start a new segment of the journey, my friend reminds me to create new cards (ie: new Truth pertaining to that subject that God is walking me through). How or why I can't remember that on my own, no idea....But I found I didn't want to loose the cards I had created, that I wasn't necessarily carrying with me at the time....
So I created this box, for the old cards to be placed in. Its also a good daily reminder that His Truth is all I need!!! And that I've come a long way from where I began! A new poem, my prayer to our God!
“Desires”
By Amy Christine, July 20, 2009
I see that You desire to have my whole heart,
It’s Your Love that provides that fresh start.
This segment of the race has left me open and exposed,
Was that in the fine print, can’t recall if that was ever disclosed.
You are jealous for me,
And yet my own jealousy keeps me bound and not free.
You are the Giver of many things,
Yet I’ve been consumed with others, and yes the wound stings.
To start anew, You’ve had to crush me into fine dust,
This ugliness is just as filthy as that old lie of lust.
Black but Comely, that’s how You choose see,
Lord, it was me that took You to that tree.
A glimmer of Hope, I feel You inside me starting to move,
Your heart’s desire is only to improve.
I desire to be free from the chains of fear,
I desire it to be You, the only One I revere.
I feel like a child needing the “how’s” and to understand,
Through the mess and darkness show me how to withstand.
My prayer is that You’d show me how to feel,
Fusing my heart with Yours I know time will heal.
Hold and use each of my tears,
Fill the void that I’ve created over the years.
Take my brokenness into Your loving arms of Grace,
As Your daughter, I ask You to simply touch my face.
My heart’s desire is to chase You just like You chase me,
Your path is where I truly long to be.
This leg of the race You have sent me alone,
The outcome is all Your own.
Fix my gaze as I run hard and press in,
This race together we will win.
O Lord, cover my life with Your footprints,
And let Your blood wash away the enemy’s fingerprints.
I realize that I've have truly neglected my blog. Most of you know, I wasn't flying for the month of June. Amazing how fast and yet how slow time can go when you aren't working. I had an interesting round (hoping my last) of kidney stones in June. I've been blessed on both accounts that I wasn't flying at the time of the initial attack. The pain drops ya. I however did have a miracle occur. I had a surgery that did not goes as planned (unsuccessful) which led to another procedure down in Denver. After a weekend of prayer for His miraculous healing, I went to Denver for the procedure. I had the IV in and all ready to go, they started taking x-rays and the large 6mm stone that was stuck was no where to be found. How about that? Still amazing when I think about it. Crazy!!
Since, I've been back to work, and probably the most challenging thing on my plate (sarcastically) is keeping my little plant Lazarus alive. He must have 9 lives or something, because he has been through 2 of them already. I will be sure to update on his condition. (very blessed to have roommates to watch over him during my time away-thanks girls). Below is a photo of Lazarus!! (Got his name after life #1 was spent). Getting back to work has been okay, lots of flying. Hard to go from flying zero hours to 95 hours in a short period of time. Physically, emotionally and spiritually, this could perhaps be one of my most challenging summers I can recall. God's been doing some interesting things in my life that requires ALL of me. (and I haven't liked it). But when God's in control and you're not, there isn't much we can do about it, right? right!
I did have one of my most rewarding flights of my career last week. I was working a Denver to Spokane, where we took a a full flight out but 30 people or so were a part of a huge group going to Spokane for the Veteran Wheel Chair Games. (similar to a Special Olympic event). Though the flight was physically challenging, meaning the boarding and deplaning process exceeded the normal time limit, we had a medical situation occur during the flight and yet my heart was encouraged on how these folks live. It was one of the happiest groups I've ever met. Regardless of their story their situation, they have a love for life and the games. Very inspiring.
I can't see myself living there, but I enjoy visiting! This time, I was working, but got to enjoy a 18hr layover in Oklahoma City. So best friend Susanne and her two daughters came to visit me. We enjoyed a fun lunch at Panera Bread and had to do our ritual- Starbucks. We went back to the hotel and the girls had too much fun playing on that huge bed!!! Love you Susanne, Sophie and Elsie !! Thanks for the visit! We've bonded!! Elsie and I !Girls at play!! Those king size beds- a child's dream!!
So I'm house sitting for some dear friends of mine- the Galloway's (woohoo!) . Grateful their pups like me! However, this is what I saw when I returned from errands ...... Who is the guilty party? Shall I guess? Sooki walked alongside w/ me to clean up this mess, as for Rylie, yep hiding under the dining table!!! But they are sooo cute though!!!! Sooki (left) and Rylie (right)!! Swear they look like "Hoops and YoYo"! Also I've been watching Kimmi's Poppy plant. Hoping it blossoms soon!!!! Crazy!!Driving home from church today, Emma and I had to pull off the side of the road to take a photo of this sign in front of a church!
Yahoo, I'm finally moving back to Loveland. The big move should happen the first week of June. It's been a long time coming. It's little bittersweet leaving my current roomie Karie (F9 f/a), kinda feels like we're breaking up :( But my life currently is in Loveland. Family, friends and most importantly-church is up there. I'm eager to get back to my roots!!
I am moving in with a christian friend from church. With me gone nearly half the month anyway- flight attendants tend to be the ideal roommates-cuz we are never there....So I'm excited just to start something new. New name, new tattoo, new place to live.....Life is grand!!!
I never get sick of this! Sunset in San Jose, California last night. The one few cities where we have jet stairs. We we able to catch a glimpse of the outdoors for a few minutes prior to boarding up and heading home. Even caught an airplane taking off!! Sweet!!
(First- bad photos-camera phone- hehe "my berry"). So I'm right in the middle of a 4 day trip, with staying in Kansas City 3 nights in a row, due to doing the Mexico shuttles from here. Today we took a great group of Spring Breakers to Puerta Vallerta, and tomorrow we take a group to Cancun. But today, on the way back to MCI, we had cute kids on board. My fellow crew member Barb and I made some new friends, and we loved and begged for these hats, but these kids wouldn't part with 'em. Even for two stunning flight attendants, so a picture sufficed. (Just so ya know- I got down to their height-I may be short, but not that short!!!)
Yay! The last time I got to see my best friend Susanne, seems like forever ago at our 10 year high school reunion last summer. I finally got to meet their newest child Elsie!! I love these kiddos, don't worry, I love you too Susie!! Beautiful kids!!!Cute little sisters: Elsie (left) and Sophie (right)
This willow tree statue is titled: "Remember". Yesterday marked a heaven opening experience in my heart. Praising God and testifying before others of His Greatness, that we all become changed vessels. I am captivated and in awe that He chose me. The Destination = Transformation! Below are lyrics of a familiar song that melt my heart!
Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! O what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, born of his Spirit, washed in his blood.
This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long; this is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long.
Perfect submission, perfect delight, visions of rapture now burst on my sight; angels descending bring from above echoes of mercy, whispers of love.
Perfect submission, all is at rest; I in my Savior am happy and blest, watching and waiting, looking above, filled with his goodness, lost in his love
A VERY COLD day here!! Brr!! Despite the weather, the trash must still be taken out!! So we flight attendants take the short route instead of hauling down the stairs -woooosh!! I was lucky to catch my roomie Karie in action!!! Watch out below!!!!! Now many of you will be shocked, but yes I braved two things today:
#1 the cold (14 degrees here! The blowing snow across my face!) #2 I wore pink!!
So I was lucky to find a trip over Christmas that took me to Orange County, California. Since I can't be home for Christmas, I spent Christmas day with my older sister Valerie, her fiance Ron, his two kids Scottie and Valerie. We all went over to Ron's parents down in Temecula, California. It was nice to have some family nearby, even though I didn't know any of them, but it was a pleasant Christmas! Ron's family knew of me and very welcoming. Glad to be home though! Its been a long two weeks in the skies!
Yea, this was 1988 Christmas program.....I was the delightful virgin Mary (in blue)!! I looked thrilled don't I!!!! I look more annoyed or something! But then again, I was 8 years old! (Sister Sarah is in the front row as an Angel (4th from the right). We both looked thrilled.....HAHA!! Thanks mom for sending these memories my way! This photo isn't super clear to see my facial expression, but it's priceless I assure you!
Ah yes, some of the holiday decor is up at the crashpad. My cute little tree looks lovely! Fixin' to string some icicle lights on the deck railing once this snow melts!
Kinda looks like it's on FIRE when lit!!! I've got a fire extingisher nearby, no worries! Then we've got the Galloway's tree(s).....Had a great time helping the Galloway's officially kick off the holiday season at their house!! Too much fun!!!
Hark! The room has been invaded with snowmen!! LOL (just kidding Kimmi!)
