My standby trip to Maui went B-U-S-T this afternoon. Regardless of the several warnings from my roomie, advising me to becareful flying to Hawaii during the summer months, I wanted to try anyway. My journey ended at 8:45pm this evening. I flew out this morning from Denver to Los Angeles, in hopes to catch a Delta flight directly to Maui to visit family there. I had planned to stay till Friday. I knew the summer months were insane to attempt "standby" flying but this was a new adventure and I wanted to attempt. I had never flown standby on another carrier besides Frontier so this was a great learning experience if nothing else. Turned out there ended up being about 25 ish standby folks ahead of me in line for Z-E-R-O seats available, so I decided to cut the journey short, and run back to the other terminal to jump back on Frontier to head home. Indeed a long day. But I'm home, and now it's time to relax for the week....enjoying the time off, I don't fly again till Sunday morning!! (Lord willing, will try Hawaii again possibly in the late fall or early winter).
This photo below was at the end of my journey tonight. I took the photo as I stood outside on the tarmac waiting for the employee bus!!! Gorgeous isn't it!!! Huge British Airways 777 leaving Denver tonight.
